For years, I wanted my children involved in cooking and baking. But there was one small problem. The mess made me lose my mind.
Something would spill. My body would tense. I’d start micromanaging and yelling. And suddenly the beautiful life skill activity I planned turned into everybody wishing we had just ordered the cake.
Eventually, I realized I had two choices. Give up something that mattered to me… or figure out another way.
One where they could have a positive learning experience through play, becoming confident and capable children, while I worked with my own triggers. I still had to parent every day.
So I did. And it didn’t involve gentle parenting scripts.
Years later, my older children can cook, bake, clean, and manage a kitchen independently. I didn’t need to remove the value of what mattered. I just needed to redesign the path.
Inside the workshop, I’ll show you what I changed, and how you can begin applying the same thinking to the moments that keep tripping you up.
